Maldo (adrenogroov,
FR)
Maldo is the French half of the MOODY PREACHERS duo, who signed
2 EPs and a track on a common EP on ADRENOGROOV, the very well known
Swiss label. Moody Preachers is a common project with the upcoming
Italian producer Luca Baldini, who has more and more success on
TURBO RECORDS with his other project DRAMA SOCIETY.
Both members of the duo have been involved in electronic
music since the early 90s. After 10 years of Djing, Maldo released
his first track in 2000 on famous F Communications (a remix of Laurent
Garnier's single Greed).
Then Moody Preachers met at the Rex club in Paris and got friends
thanks to their common passion for Laurent Garnier, and the pioneer
sound from Detroit and Chicago, which is also highly present in
their sets. They collaborated on a couple of tracks, and one of
these ended on Adrenogroov's desk, catching the attention of Salvatore
Freda, the label manager who soon after signed them on an exclusive
basis.
Their first shot, titled 'After Darkness EP' (adv004 - including
a remix by Fabrice Lig), became soon record of the month in several
respected Dance Magazines as Muzik, DJ Mag, Seven.. and got fine
comments also in Trax, Partysan, Xpander.. as well as massive supports
coming from stars like Jeff Mills, Mr. C and Laurent Garnier, just
to name a few.
Laurent decided to licence the track 'Abuses on Rachel' (which
is already considered as an underground classic by several professionals)
on his long awaited mixed compilation "Excess Luggage",
released in October 2003 on F Com.
The amazing start of their first project allowed them to play in
a very short time in several well-respected places as the Rex in
Paris, Traxx in Zurich, Fuse in Brussels, Link in Bologna, Barbar
in Turin, 4sans in Bordeaux, etc..
After such an unexpected success, Adrenogroov naturally asked them
for a follow up EP titled 'Downward Spiral' (adv005 - including
a remix by Deetron) out on April 2003, which is already record of
the month in the famous Trax magazine in France and De:bug in Germany,
doing the buzz among DJs like: Trevor Rockliffe, DJ C1, Mr G, Laurent
Garnier, David Duriez, etc..
